• Kenny Carter

    14 Oct 2015

  • Kenny Carter, 52, of Malvern, passed away on October 14, 2015. He was born to Billie Jean Russell Speer and Dean Haskel Carter on July 29, 1963. Kenny graduated from Malvern High School in 1981 and pursued his love of working on big trucks. Kenny was a talented diesel mechanic and could fix most any problem. For fun, Kenny loved to race in the chuck wagon races in Clinton, AR. He would follow the races to surrounding states as it was one of his favorite hobbies.  Kenny was quite the talker, combining this with his easy going nature, Kenny leaves behind many friends.

Kenny is preceded in death by his father; one sister, Tammy Husley; and one brother, Timmy Spurlin.

Survivors include his two sons, Shaine (Brandy) Carter of Little Rock and Nick Carter of Malvern; his mother, Billie Jean Speer and his step-dad, Steve Speer; and two brothers, Jimmy Spurlin and Billy Carter. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Aubrianna, Aaliyah, Ainsley, Aiden and Hurley; and his “favorite” aunt, Janet Baum of Malvern. Kenny also has a large extended family that will miss him greatly.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Antioch Cemetery in Social Hill. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Keith Pennington will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Billy Carter, Terry Russell, Darrin Bowdle, Dewayne Bowen, Don Bowen and David Baum.

I have just noticed that Ken has passed away and I'm just heart broken. I went to school with Ken and was closer friends with him in Jr. High School. He was always so sweet and as cute as a bug and would sat behind be in math class and twist my hair with his pencil. That is the Ken I knew, the Ken that could always put a big smile on our faces. To his family and loved ones, I am so sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers!
